Family
History of Steve My family was one of the
founding fathers of Lawton in 1901, even before Oklahoma became a
state (1907). We opened Wolverton's which was electrical in
nature. We also had a hotel among other things. We won our lot by
'lot'.
However, we also acquired land outside of Lawton
near Chattanooga through the Homestead Act.
School Attended
I attended Washington Elementary, John Adams and
then Tomlinson Jr. High School.
I then attended Lawton High School, was very
active in ROTC, going to basic at age 17.
I then attended Cameron University
where I got my degree in Bio-Chemistry. I still go back and
see some of my teachers. You should visit the new Science
building there.
Army Unit
I went into Active Duty Army
right out of college. I was a second Lt. and came in first in
my OBC (Officer Basic Course). I was in the Armor Branch.
2bdge 2AD 1btn 67 Armor at Ft. Hood, Texas. Before that,
during my reserve time while I was in high school and College, I was
in 3btn 378th Reg. 95th Division in Lawton, Oklahoma.
When I went back into reserves I was in 245th Btn of 420 Bge. (Note:
Steve's wife typed this in and doesn't remember the abbreviations
for the Brigade and Battalion! Sorry guys).
Current Job When I got out of the Army, I worked
temporarily at Ciba Gigey and then taught school. I now work
and have for nearly 15 years, at ExxonMobil in Baton Rouge.
Activities I enjoyed going on a Mission Trip to Del
Rio, Texas where we ministered across the border into Mexico, this
past summer.
I also enjoy leisure time on the computer and
doing puzzles.
Church I grew up Methodist and my wife Baptist,
but we both ended up attending Assembly of God churches, in which we
raised our children.
Interests My interests include: Science,
science fiction, history. I love watching TLC and Discovery
(as does my entire family). LASC (Louisiana Arts and Science
Center), a good movie. Quiet things. Working out.
Andre and I married in 2008. Within two months I joined him in
Okinawa, where he iwas stationed. It is so beautiful we thought
about retiring here.
I met Andre during Friday Night Weird Movie Night. Jill, my
roommate, hosted this as a place for young adults to hang out on
Friday night and watch a movie and then have a Bible Study. We had
a great time, but now we are all married--wonder how that happened!
We have a cat named Mesha and live on base (yes an Air Force base
even though we are Army) in Okinawa. You can find out more by
visiting me on
facebook. Of course, you will find out that we now live in
Colorado if you visit our facebook page!
My God bless you and thank you for visiting. Be sure to stop by the
photo gallery and see pictures of our marriage ceremony.
I got back from Iraq and met the love of my life, Andrea.
We dated only a short time and then were married in August.

Below is a poem based on a
song by a country singer. Mom modified it and put it up here.
You can find out all about me under 'my story'. But if you
like the military, read on.
I'm just trying to be a Christian,
Be a witness to friend and foe,
Be a good son to my mother,
A good solider for the Lord
Up and at 'em bright and early,
I'm all in my Army best,
Yeah, I'm dressed for success
from my head down to my boots,
I don't do it for money, there's still bills coming my way,
I don't do it for the glory, I just do it anyway,
Providing for my future's God gave me the responsibility,
Yeah I'm real good under pressure, being all that I can be,
I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekends been comin' too
strong,
Or when work calls on the holidays,
And even sometimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door,
Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey I'm true down to the core,
And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice,
Be sure I don't wanna' die for you,
But if dyin's asked of me,
I'll bear that cross with honor,
'Cause freedom don't come free.
I'm an American soldier, an American,
Beside my brothers and sisters I will proudly stand,
When liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right,
I'm out here on the front lines, so you can sleep in peace tonight.
I'm an American soldier, an American,
A Christian tried and true
